Enhancing Performance of Green Buildings

Occupiers of Green Star rated building experience on how to make the best use of it

Professor George Earl
Director: Institute of Sustainable Development & Arhcitecture
Bond University

The Bond University Mirvac School of Sustainable Development in partnership with the Green Building Council Australia in late 2007 and early 2008 undertook an intial study to measure the performance of "Green Star" rated office buildings in Australia. The study covered selected commercial office buildings from across Australia, measuring the utility performance, management and occupiers experiences. this study is the first on an iterative longitudonal study which will take place over the next four to five years.

The findings of the study outlined in this report provides an intial snapshot of the current situation and I believe will provide a basis for reflective review of where we are and where we would like to go to in the evolution of holistic sustainable assessment tools.
