The Centre for Leadership Studies

The Centre is a not-for-profit research and executive development entity created as an initiative of the Faculty of Business at Bond University. Our mission is to contribute to the understanding of leadership phenomena, and to contribute to the development of more effective leadership practices in organizations. Our 2011 highlights include:

• The Centre has been able to secure a joint-venture partner. The Business Spirituality Research Project is a joint venture with the Sunland Foundation.
• Professor Parry hosted and chaired seminars by Visiting Professor, Steve Kempster at Bond University on November 15, 16 and 17, 2011.
• Professor Parry has been appointed as Fellow of the Leadership Trust Foundation of the UK (FLTF). This prestigious appointment complements his two other Fellowships, and helps to promote Bond University and the work of The Centre for Leadership Studies
• During 2011 the Centre also refereed numerous journal articles, chapters in edited books and published a book - Jackson, B. and Parry, K. (2011). A very short, fairly interesting and reasonably cheap book about studying leadership (2nd edn). London: Sage. ISBN 978-1-8492-0739-3 Runner-up for the UK‟s Chartered Management Institute (CMI) award for Best Management Book for the year.
• The Centre is also undertaking research on the following:
  • Leadership in Islamic organizations in Australia – with Griffith University PhD candidate Nezar Faris
  • Investigation of the identity and narrative of charismatic leadership in organizations
  • A critical discourse analysis of leadership and power in the racing industry - with Griffith University PhD candidate, Gerard Betros
  • An autoethnographic investigation of the generation of a leadership identity, Professor Parry
  • The role of metaphors in leadership and organizational innovation, Professor Parry
