A big name out for the Bull Sharks in clash with Cougars

Jayden Molo
Jayden Molo is out injured for the clash with the Cougars

Bull Sharks v Brisbane North Cougars at Nissan Arena.

Sapphire Series.

Last they met:

Bull Sharks won 59-54

It was our best win of the year against a side that eventually claimed the Sapphire Series Premiership.

On reflection:

They haven’t had a great start to the season, which is very uncharacteristic. They have won one from four games. They did come off a win last round so they may be starting to find their connections and momentum.

What’s changed:

Even though we had a loss last week, it was a massive effort scoring 72 goals as the losing team. Our analysis showed that we have improved in key areas since playing the Titans, with Thunder being a more polished and experienced team. Those are the learnings we need to take into this game and keep building.

What’s new:

We have lost Jayden Molo to an ankle injury which is a blow to us. However, it gives a great opportunity to one of our Ruby players to experience the Sapphire series.   We’ll elevate one of the girls onto the bench for this game.

The opposition:

They have had a tough start to the season, but we know that Cougars are always a quality team to face. The team features a number of Firebirds Training Partners and SSN Reserves players, so they definitely have depth and experience. Gemma Seymour (nee Mimi) has also made a return to HSS after the birth of her twins. The speed and experience she brings alone is something we need to seriously look at.

Ruby Series

Last time they met:

Bull Sharks lost 54 - 38

Both our squad and Cougars squad has changed significantly from last year so it will be good to see how we match up

Welcome back:

We are hoping for the return of our mid courter Joesi Gisinger this week but sadly we will still be without our defender Abi Houston who is still recovering from an ankle injury

The opposition:

The Cougars are always a very tough competition. Like us they haven’t lost a game yet this season and this is shaping as out toughest assignment so far.
