Student for a Semester

Are you an ambitious year 11 or 12 High School student, living on the Gold Coast, in Brisbane or Northern NSW?

If so, the Bond University Student for a Semester program might be for you....it's a great chance to kick-start your university course because you'll study a Bond subject, meet uni students and professors, and get involved in university life. You might even discover a new career that interests you.

You might find this program challenging at times, because of the extra study and classes you must attend each week, but if your parents and teachers agree that you're capable, then we highly recommend you apply for Student for a Semester.

Subjects: You can view an example of the type of subjects available each semester here - May 2012 Student for a Semester subjects. Please note: these subjects and times cannot be guaranteed every semester. The subjects available for our September semester will be posted in early July.

Please contact Kristy Crockett, Excellence Program Coordinator, on 07 5595 1067 if you have any questions with regards to the subjects available. Further information can be found on our Student for a Semester information flyer.

Applications

For a step-by-step guide to applying for this program for future semesters, please view the Student for a Semester Application Procedure.

2012 Application Dates

Applications for our May semester have now closed.

Applications for our September semester open on Friday, July 13.

Fees and Expenses

Tuition for the first Student for a Semester subject in 2012 is $238.00 and includes access to all of Bond's campus facilities. Students may also need to purchase a textbook and other course materials.

Subject Requirements and Assessment

Students will need to attend one lecture and one tutorial each week (this may vary depending on the subject). There are no mid-semester breaks or holidays during the semester and students must submit all set assessment tasks to successfully pass their subject.

Subsequent Subjects

Students who have passed a Student for a Semester subject at Bond can apply to do a second subject but will need to submit a new application form. The maximum number of subjects that can be completed as part of the Student for a Semester Program is two.

Please note: Students must achieve a grade of at least 50% (pass) in their first subject (or 65% for a HSS subject) to be approved for a second subject, at the reduced fee. Please review our Academic Handbook (page 46) for further policies relating to this program.

"The Bond University Student for a Semester program was a fantastic stepping stone on my path to studying at university. It gave me first-hand experience into life at Bond and I was also lucky enough to meet some fantastic university students. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the program and I am now sure that Bond University is the best choice for me. I really encourage all high school students to give it a go because it is truly worthwhile."
