Hardware & Software SpecificationsBond University’s Computer Standard Operating EnvironmentStandard Operating Environment abbreviated as SOE, is a specification for using a standard architecture and applications on computers found within an organization. This means the operating system, standard applications and software found on all student and staff PCs at Bond. Information Technology Services creates and maintains SOE’s for all desktop models of PCs and laptops at the University and this assists the support staff to maintain the desktop environment and software licensing. However there are other PC models on campus and these may have other software types due to licensing issues. Older Staff PCs may have older SOE’s installed but can be updated on request by contacting the Servicedesk. Student SOE’s in the Computer Labs, Lecture Theatres, Seminar Rooms, Case Study Rooms and general student use computers will have current SOE’s. The SOE is subject to change and reviewed on a regular basis, due to: - software version updates and patches,
- Microsoft service packs and security patches,
- software requests and course requirements,
- software retirement,
- licensing and compatibility issues
