Australian MoneyThe basic monetary unit is the Australian dollar (AUD) which is made up of 100 cents. Coins are available in denominations of 5, 10, 20, and 50 cents, and $1 and $2. Major credit cards are widely accepted, as are travelers cheques. If you have an ATM card, debit or credit, this will be best for a short term stay in Australia. ATMs can be easily found in the local area and there are also two ANZ tellers located on campus. Many Australian banks are also linked to international systems (Cirrus and Maestro) so you may be able to use your normal cheque or savings ATM card to withdraw money from your bank at home.
