The weather can range from below zero temperatures in the Snowy Mountains to humid heat in the north-west. It is considered to be one of the driest continents on earth.

Being in the Southern Hemisphere, the seasons are the reverse of the US or the UK.  In the South, people experience cool, wet winters and warm, dry summers. In the north, seasons are more tropical, with a warm, dry season and a hot, wet season.  Temperatures vary from an average 30 degrees Celsius in the middle of Summer, to an average of 6 degrees Celsius in the in winter.
