English Language Skills Assessment (ELSA)

The English Language Skills Assessment is a secure web-based assessment of English language proficiency that can be used to find out how good your English skills are.

What does ELSA assess?

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Listening
  • Grammar

The whole test takes a maximum of 50 minutes.

This is a confidential assessment tool. A report is generated at the end of the test and a Student Learning Support staff member will email you with your results.

How to use ELSA

  1. Make sure your computer has the sound turned on and your earphones are plugged in.
  2. Go to http://amweb.sonet.com.au/  (you need to do this on a computer at the University)
  3. Enter your SID in the USERNAME:         eg: 1234567
  4. Enter your SID in the Password:             eg: 1234567
  5. Click Login, Begin test

NB: Use your Student Identification Number for both the Username and Password
