Who is eligible?
Australian citizens and holders of permanent humanitarian visas are eligible for FEE-HELP assistance.
Is there a limit on how much can be borrowed under FEE-HELP?
Yes. Students are able to borrow up to a total limit of $81,600 for all programs except for Medicine that has a $102,000 limit. The limit is indexed according to CPI each year.
Is a loan fee applied to FEE-HELP?

  • There is a 20% loan fee for undergraduate study that is charged on each amount deferred at the time of deferral. This 20% loan fee does not count towards the overall loan limit.
  • No loan fee applies to postgraduate study.

When will the loan have to be repaid?
The ATO will take compulsory repayments through the taxation system when you earn over $39,824.
Is there any incentive to voluntarily pay off the loan?
Yes. A 10% bonus will be granted for any voluntary payments over $500.
