The Academic Semester
Bond University has three academic semesters of 14 weeks each year. Each semester is preceded by an orientation week and is followed by a vacation period of about three weeks. The semesters are named using the last two digits of the year followed by 1 (for January), 2 (for May) or 3 (for September). In 2007 the semesters are referred to as 071, 072, and 073.
Each semester follows the pattern below:
| 'O' Week | Orientation, Registration [Class Schedules] and Deferred Exams are held before semester starts |
| Weeks 1-12 | Teaching Program |
| Week 13 | Revision (Some classes may still be on but generally no set class periods) |
| Week 14 | Examinations - these begin on the Saturday of Week 13 and continue for approximately 8 days. The venue is the Sports Hall or Computer Labs unless organised differently by the lecturer |
Semester Break (3 or 4 weeks) |
Usually 3 weeks in May and September
and 4 weeks over December/January |
