International Perspective
Information for International Students
The Faculty of Law welcomes overseas applicants from all parts of the world. Many of our JD graduates are Canadians and many of our LLB graduates are Malaysians and Fijians. We also have current and past students from Botswana, China, Hong Kong, Japan, India, Korea, New Zealand, PNG, Singapore, the Solomon Islands, Taiwan, the United States, Vietnam and Zimbabwe.
We also have or have had postgraduate students from France, Germany, Ghana, Indonesia, India, Norway, Sweden, South Africa, Switzerland, Vanuatu and Zambia.
In addition to the excellent standard of teaching and our world class facilities, our international students enjoy an active social life on and off the campus, with full support offered through Bond’s numerous Student Associations. Fees for overseas students at Bond University are the same as for Australian students.
Australia’s legal system is based on the Common Law model of England. As such, several other jurisdictions with Common Law systems, including East Malaysia, Botswana, Brunei, Fiji, Hong Kong and New Zealand, allow Australian law degrees generally to satisfy the academic requirements for professional admission: Some other jurisdictions with Common Law systems recognise Australian law degrees as satisfying part of the academic requirements for professional admission but expect additional study in the law of the home jurisdiction. Canada and some American states (including California and New York) recognise all Australian law degrees in this way. In India and West Malaysia, Bond University’s Bachelor of Laws is one of a limited number of Australian degrees which are specifically recognised.
