QUEENSLAND HIGH SCHOOLS’ LEGAL STUDIES COMPETITION
About Us
History & Aims
The Queensland Legal Industry is a burgeoning one and quality teaching is crucial for the future. Studying Law can enhance students’ awareness of the systems, processes and implications of the Law found in individual, corporate and government decision-making. It develops their ability to think, reason and argue as well as enhances public speaking abilities and overall confidence; skills senior high school students require to participate in, and contribute to, our society in an effective way.
Bond University Law Faculty and Minter Ellison Law Firm initiated the concept of the Competition in late 2005 to assist the development of general and specific skills and knowledge related to Law. Specifically, the competition aims to:
- Stimulate the teaching and learning of Legal Studies at QLD High Schools
- Foster and enhance students' interests in the area of Legal Studies
- Provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate their skills by participating in a national competition
- Encourage awareness of the current Legal industry and environment
- Recognise and reward excellence in the fields of Legal Studies.
