The opening of the Legal Skills Centre saw the development of the Legal Careers Resource Room which has an extensive collection of firm, employment and career related material and documentation. In May the faculty welcomed Toni Brennan to the Careers office as the Graduate Placement Officer to assist in providing an outstanding careers service to the law students.
To date, the Law Careers Office has provided face to face careers assistance to over 500 students and post employment opportunities on the Student Portal twice a week. This is in addition to running workshops, facilitating careers
presentations at Boot camp and to PLT students each semester, as well as hosting firms and agencies for employment related seminars.
The Careers Section, in conjunction with Kathy Atkins and Libby Taylor, has also been working on developing and maintaining professional relations with firms both locally and in the major capital cities to promote Bond law students and identify employment opportunities.
The network of professional relations has also extended overseas, with relationships being formed with firms in places such as New York and Kuala Lumpar.
As 2007 draws to close, the Careers Office is beginning to focus on new strategic initiatives for 2008 and will certainly continue to foster and develop the professional relations so that the students may benefit from our knowledge and expertise.
