Concurrent Enrolment

The Faculty of Law allows concurrent enrolment in the LLB and LLM programs, subject to the following conditions:

• The candidate is enrolled in his or her last or penultimate semester of an LLB degree program;
• The candidate has attained a GPA of at least 2.0 during the six preceding semesters of enrolment in the LLB degree program;
• The candidate is found suitable for dual enrolment by the Dean;
• The candidate is enrolled in maximum two post-graduate and maximum two undergraduate subjects during any of the two semesters concerned; and
• Bestowal of the LLM degree is subject to graduation with the LLB degree.

The Faculty allows candidates who fulfill these conditions to be admitted to the LLM program while still enrolled for the LLB. In other words, no individual submission is required to Senate for permission for concurrent enrolment for each student.

Candidates will benefit from greater flexibility in structuring their degrees and will have more choice in the selection of elective subjects.

Concurrent enrolment will be particularly attractive to students who under a normal study plan would be left with one or two semesters during which they undertake less than four undergraduate subjects.
