Credit Policy - Undergradaute

Credit towards LLB

Students transferring to Bond University from Bachelor of Laws study at another recognized university can obtain credit for a maximum of sixteen subjects (half degree) towards the Bond Bachelor of Laws degree.

Compulsory Subjects

To obtain credit for compulsory subjects, the content of the previously undertaken subject/s must cover at least 75% of the content of the Bond subject/s for which credit is being sought.

Subjects which are the basis for which the credit is sought must normally have been taught in a professionally recognized law degree in a university or be eligible for credit towards an LLB degree (or equivalent) at their home institution.

Credit or advanced standing obtained or granted towards a compulsory subject shall normally be cancelled 9 years after the end of the year during which the credit or advanced standing was obtained if the candidate has not, by that date, completed the requirements of the degree.

Law Electives

Credit for law electives can be granted for any full-unit (approximately 36 hour tuition contact) law subjects previously undertaken.

Subjects which are the basis for which the credit is sought must normally have been taught in a professionally recognized law degree in a university or be eligible for credit towards an LLB degree (or equivalent) at their home institution.

Credit or advanced standing obtained or granted towards a law elective subject shall normally be cancelled 9 years after the end of the year during which the credit or advanced standing was obtained if the candidate has not, by that date, completed the requirements of the degree.

General Electives

Credit for general electives may be granted ‘one-for-one’ for any full-unit subjects undertaken at a university.

There is no limit on the time on the expiration of credit for general electives towards the Bachelor of Laws degree.

TAFE

Students who have completed a minimum of Diploma in the following disciplines (outlined by the Universities Australia) will be eligible for up to 40 CP of general electives towards the Bachelor of Laws degree. Subjects currently recognized by theUniversities Australia include:

  • Building/Construction Management
  • Business Studies
  • Computing Studies
  • Engineering
  • Geology/Geoscience
  • Legal Studies
  • Library & Information Studies
  • Nursing
  • Social Work/Social Welfare
  • Surveying/Geomatics
  • Teacher Ed (Early Childhood Ed.)
  • Tourism/Hospitality
  • Visual Arts and Design

Policing Studies

Students who have previously completed studies in the Queensland Police, Management Development Training (or equivalent), may obtain one-for-one general elective credit.
