Supplementary Examinations

Supplementary examinations are only available to students in their last semester of study and who are intending to graduate at the next graduation ceremony. They are only granted to students who have:

  • failed one subject in their final semester, or
  • failed one subject in their penultimate semester, passed all subjects in their final semester, need the failed subject to graduate and that subject (or a substitute) is NOT offered in the student's final semester.

Supplementary examinations are graded on a 100% exam, Pass/Fail basis and conducted with the normal Deferred Examinations at the start of the following semester.

Timing of the Examination

The supplementary examination will normally be sat in the Deferred Exam period (ie O Week of the following semester) in the final semester of the student’s enrolment. It can only occur after results of the examinations in the student’s final semester are available confirming the relevant subject is the only subject required to satisfy the graduation requirements.
