Why Study Law at Bond

Law Prizes

The John F Kearney Law Gold Medal

The Law Gold Medal, donated by Dr John Kearney QC, may be awarded in January to a student who has fulfilled requirements for graduation in the preceding calendar year. In order to be eligible for the Gold Medal, a student must have completed at least 20 law subjects at Bond University. The best 20 law subjects are used in calculating academic achievement. The medal will only be awarded if there is a graduate of sufficient merit and it will not necessarily be awarded each year.

Minter Ellison Prize

A trophy and $1,600 is awarded annually to the student judged to be the best overall performer in the Faculty of Law during that year.

Account will be taken of:

  • academic performance in all subjects undertaken during that year;
  • performance in mooting, negotiation and mediation and other practical skills exercises; and
  • other relevant activities, such as public speaking, student or community services.

Allens Arthur Robinson Law of Civil Remedies Prize

The Bar Association of Queensland Evidence Prize is to be awarded to the student achieving the greatest proficiency in oral performance in Evidence. The quantum of this prize is $250.

The Professor Lee Stuesser Fundamentals of Trial Advocacy Prize is to be awarded to the student achieving the greatest proficiency in Fundamentals of Trial Advocacy. The quantum of the prize is $200 and a copy of Stuesser, An Advocacy Primer (2nd ed, 1997: Carswell).

Queensland Law Society Prize

The Queensland Law Society Prize is to be awarded to the graduating Bachelor of Laws student achieving the highest aggregate marks in the following subjects: Legal Reasoning, The Law of Civil Remedies, Principles of Tortious Liability, Principles of Contractual Liability, The Law of Obligations, Property Law, Land Law, Business Associations and Corporations Law. The quantum of the prize is $750.

Taxation Institute of Australia Taxation Law Prize
