Health Sciences & Medicine Research Degree ApplicantsIt is important when applying for a Higher Degree Research Program that you have obtained the relevant academic background for the study and that there is a willing and suitable supervisor for your research topic. Before seeking to enrol, Masters by Research and PhD candidates must seek contact with a potential supervisor. Candidates will only be considered for enrolment where a supervisor is available. The proposed research must also fit within the Faculty's strategic research plan. Once a potential supervisor has been sourced the candidate’s eligibility for enrolment will be assessed. For the enrolment process the following documents are required: - A detailed thesis proposal. It is recommended that prospective students have a solid, but less than 10 page research proposal ready for consideration by the Faculty outlining the research topic, a proposed research methodology and key writings in the area.
- University academic transcripts for all studies to date (undergraduate and postgraduate).
- A budget proposal for all research supplies (e.g. laboratory equipment, laboratory materials, clinical supplies) for the entire research project.
- University grading scale if applicable – the grading scale may be found on the reverse of the university academic transcript.
- A Certificate of Completion (Degree/Diploma) is required if the transcript does not indicate that the degree has been awarded/conferred.
- A resume detailing previous work and study history.
- Two written references (dated and preferably on letterhead). The references should cover the candidate’s abilities, key personal attributes and capabilities.
- International students previously instructed in a language other than English are required to provide certified translated and untranslated copies of both transcripts and Certificate of Completion. Please note that an IELTS total 7.0 is required for entry to postgraduate studies in the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine.
As information cannot be assessed until all of the required documentation is received, it would be appreciated if paperwork is only sent when all of the documentation outlined above is available.
