All international applicants must provide formal documentary evidence of English language proficiency per the stated requirements below. If an applicant provides evidence that fits under more than one category, then the most recent evidence will be used for admission. This document is to be read in conjunction with the University academic entry requirements. Please go to the Handbook Part 2: Academic Regulations for more information on the academic and English language proficiency. 1) Approved English Language Test Please follow the links to view the entry requirements per program: International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT) Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE)
Please note that approved English language test results must have been achieved not more than 24 months before the applicant commences their degree. 2) Successfully completed secondary education in English Applicants that have successfully completed secondary education (equivalent to Australian Senior Certificate of Education) that was taught and assessed in English in one of the countries listed below where English is the first language: • Australia • Canada • England • New Zealand • Northern Ireland • Republic of Ireland • Scotland • South Africa • United States of America • Wales 3) Successfully completed at least one year full-time equivalent at a post-secondary level Successfully completed at least one year full-time equivalent at a post-secondary level (equivalent to an Australian Qualifications Framework Certificate IV or above) that was taught and assessed in English in one of the countries listed below where English is the first language (N.B. incomplete qualifications are only valid for 24 months): • Australia • Canada • England • New Zealand • Northern Ireland • Republic of Ireland • Scotland • South Africa • United States of America • Wales 4) Undergraduate or Undergraduate Study Abroad applicants who have completed secondary schooling in Denmark, Finland, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Hong Kong
Undergraduate or Undergraduate Study Abroad applicants who have completed secondary schooling in Denmark, Finland, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Hong Kong will be required to have the following results:
• Denmark – Studentereksamen: 10 in English (12 point scale pre 2009) or 6 in English (7 point scale from 2009) for Upper Secondary School (Studentereksamen) HHX, HTX and HFX (HF). No English test required if 7 in A-level English For Study Abroad: Aarhus University – also accept a confirmation letter of English Language Proficiency. • Finland – Lukionpaastotodistus: English grade of 8 or above in the Upper Secondary Examination. Germany - Abitur: English grade of 3 or better (1 highest). For Study Abroad: -DAAD test (completed within the past year) with an A or B (the top two levels) in each category. -Exemptions: (A) University of Wuppertal, Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, International School of Management (ISM), University of Wurzburg and European Business School in Germany, will accept a 2.3 or better (where 1 is the highest and 5 is the lowest grade) in their Business English subject. (B) EUFH and ISM, also accept a confirmation letter of English Language Proficiency. • Netherlands – VWO: Pass English at secondary school. • Norway – Vitnemal: English grade of 4 or higher in Upper Secondary. • Sweden – Avgangsbetyg/Slutbetyg: English A or English B score of VG (or C) on their matriculation certificate. • Hong Kong – Diploma of Secondary Education: minimum grade of C (where C = 3) in the subject, English. Please note that applicants must have graduated within 24 months of commencing their program of study. 5) Students from International Secondary Schools where the full medium of instruction is English Applicants to undergraduate programs from International Secondary Schools where the full medium of instruction is English will be required to submit a letter from the Principal certifying the medium of instruction unless evidence to that effect is located on the transcripts. 6) Bond University English Language Institute’s (BUELI) English for Academic Purposes Where individual Bond University programs require an IELTS result of 6.5 or less an applicant may use BUELI’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Level 3 to meet the English language requirements. EAP level 3 students must successfully complete all assessment and achieve an overall pass. Successful completion of the Bond University English Language Test (BELT) may also meet English language entrance requirements. Students who attain a grade of Distinction or higher in EAP 3 will gain direct entry into University programs that have an entry requirement of IELTS 7.0. Due to specific accreditation requirements the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery, Doctor of Physiotherapy, the Master of Psychology (Clinical) and Master of Psychology (Forensic) require and IELTS test to satisfy the English Language requirements. 7) Graduates of the Undergraduate Diploma of University English Studies Graduates of the Undergraduate Diploma of University English Studies may articulate into another degree program within the Faculties of Humanities & Social Sciences, Business, Law, the Institute of Sustainable Development & Architecture, or the Bachelor of Health Sciences or Sports Management within the School of Health Sciences. For further information please go to the Undergraduate Diploma of University English Studies page. 8) Graduates of the Graduate Certificate of University English Studies and the Graduate Diploma of University English Studies Graduates of the Graduate Certificate of University English Studies and the Graduate Diploma of University English Studies may matriculate into another degree program within the Faculties of Humanities & Social Sciences, Business, Law, the Institute of Sustainable Development & Architecture, and the School of Health Sciences where the program English language requirement is less than IELTS 7.0.
