Graduate Certificate in Language
Duration: 2 Years Part-Time
Description
This program provides a unique opportunity for currently enrolled undergraduate students to enhance their study program with the learning of a foreign language. French, Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin) or Japanese language may be studied. Students will study four levels of a language and should be functionally proficient in the written and spoken practices of their language of choice and will gain knowledge of and insight into the cultural conventions and current affairs specific to their chosen language.
To attain the Graduate Certificate in Language, an undergraduate student will be permitted to overload their semester enrolment limit in the January and September semesters (that is, undertake five subjects in four of their six semesters, subject to Faculty approval). Only one level of language may be undertaken in any one semester.
Enrolment in the program should occur in the first and no later than the second semester of undergraduate studies in order for students to graduate with both the undergraduate and postgraduate qualification simultaneously. Although undergraduate students will be able to study the Graduate Certificate concurrently with their undergraduate degree they will not be able to take out the Graduate Certificate in Language until they have successfully completed their undergraduate degree.
