Study Tour
The study tour element of the program provides another dimension where by students develop a deeper bond with their peers as well as challenging most candidates’ largely local business experience. The tours open student’s eyes to the global business opportunities and challenges, resulting in a first hand understanding of the forces of international business.
The corporate class visits China, allowing students to observe and analyse the business environment and management practices of some of China’s most dynamic transnational companies. Meanwhile, the family business class visits Italy to network with companies and service providers, many multigenerational, to provide invaluable experiential learning from an international perspective.
"The study tour of Italy afforded me the opportunity to witness first-hand how the oldest family businesses in the world have achieved success and longevity from generation to generation and I have gained a global perspective on how this knowledge can be garnered to perpetuate best practice principles and stewardship for the long run in Australian family businesses". – Marina Skinner, Partner - BDO Kendalls
"The China study tour successfully merged the EMBA subjects, from economics, accounting and marketing through to the organisational behaviours and cultural issues set in an emerging country with real life businesses and people. The variety in the spectrum of companies and people visited showed the complexity of doing business in the modern world – demonstrating both lessons for success and avoidance of failure. The tour also allowed us to develop a higher level of understanding of global challenges and how these relate to the domestic arena." – Graham Hook, Australian Government – Department of Defence
