Description
The Bachelor of Commerce program is an innovative program designed for students interested in the financial side of business. As well as core business skills, you will complete a major, which specifically prepares you for a professional career in finance, accounting or business economics. You are also encouraged to complete a minor to diversify your skills and enhance your employability.
Internships and work placements are available with assistance from the Faculty. Students interested in furthering their skills in their major discipline have been placed with organisations such as ABN AMRO Morgans for finance and KPMG for accounting in the past semester.
Professional Recognition
The Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degree is fully accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, CPA Australia, and the Institute of Public Accountants.
The Bachelor of Commerce is registered with ASIC for RG146 compliance. Students must complete FINC12-200 Fundamentals of Finance and FINC13-308 Personal Finance if they wish to meet the RG146 compliance.
Professional Outcomes
The Bachelor of Commerce prepares you for finance work in the commercial sector and in private practice, including accounting, merchant banking, stockbroking, investment institutions, brokerage houses and government. You may find employment as a Certified Practicing Accountant, merchant banker, stockbroker, or accounts manager.
Popular Combined Degrees
Students can undertake all current combined degree options. Our three-semester academic year can allow you to complete two degrees in the same time it takes to complete one degree at other universities.
