Bachelor of Construction Management and Quantity Surveying

Duration: 2 years (6 semesters) full time. Flexible part-time study is available to domestic students.
Starting: January, May, September

Description

This program covers a comprehensive spectrum of subjects spanning the allied fields of construction management and quantity surveying, preparing you to enter into a range of careers in the construction industry. You have the choice of entering the construction industry as a practitioner (such as estimator or contract manager) or as a professional (quantity surveyor or project manager). The program carries a sustainability theme across many subjects, encouraging a broader perspective than the traditional focus on the short-term financial performance of construction projects by looking at longer-term operating costs and environmental impacts.

Work Experience

Work placements are encouraged. They provide students with the opportunity to apply skills and knowledge learnt while studying and maximise opportunities for career progression after they complete their studies.

Professional Recognition

Students graduating with this degree are internationally recognised by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Chartered Institute of Building. National accreditation has been achieved with the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors and successful graduates will have also met the educational requirements set by the Building Services Authority Queensland for the granting of an Open Builders’ Licence.

Professional Outcomes

The Bachelor of Construction Management and Quantity Surveying will give you access to a wide range of career pathways, including working as a professional or in industry. Professional options include quantity surveying, construction cost management and planning, and project management. Other options are to work in property development, construction management or cost estimating, with skills also applicable to related sectors such as civil engineering and mining. These attributes give you the freedom to seek work anywhere in Australia or around the world. You also have opportunity to later specialise in a number of fields by way of further study.
