PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Master of Marketing is a specialized program that prepares students for senior level positions in marketing management, services marketing, brand/product management, market research and marketing communication.  In the 21st century, successful marketing in every sector depends on building enduring relationships with customers.

This program has been designed to develop the knowledge base and executive skill set necessary for a marketing manager to build and foster the lifetime value of an organisation’s customers.

Course content includes seminars, case study and practical projects, using a mix of individual and team-based work. The classroom experience is highly interactive and it is supported by presentations from industry experts.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Admission to the Master of Marketing requires an undergraduate degree from a recognised institution and a minimum two years of work experience, preferably in a managerial role. Assessment for admission also will be based on references, the candidate’s statement of objectives and, whenever possible, a personal interview.

Students without an academic background in business may obtain the necessary educational background by completing  a Graduate Certificate in Business. This program consists of four foundation business subjects which are offered in the January and September semesters. On successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in Business, students will be qualified to begin the Master of Marketing.

Enrolment

International Students: To fulfil your student visa requirements, you’ll need to enrol in 30cp per semester. However, you may enrol in 40cp per semester (with your Program Advisor’s authorisation) which will reduce the time to complete your program.

Domestic Students have the option of undertaking either 30 or 40cp per semester.

Professional Outcomes

Potential employers of marketing graduates are found in every industry sector including electronic commerce, consumer packaged goods, government and public services, fashion, electronic goods, entertainment, consulting, retail, financial and professional services, and healthcare.  Also, many marketing graduates pursue career paths in firms that specialize in marketing, advertising and public relations.

WORK EXPERIENCE & INTERNSHIPS

Some students who desire additional or specialized practical experience, or who possess workplace experience in a field different from their studies, often choose to undertake an internship as part of their degree.
