Program Description

This program provides a foundation in Urban Design and Planning. It is ideal for students intending to make their careers in a variety of built environment professions involved in creating sustainable cities. Four studio/project subjects develop knowledge and skills in Urban Design and Planning practice and communication (Introducing Urban Design, Urban Design and Site Analysis Studio, Supportive Environments for Active Transport and Community and Social Planning).

The rationale for planning is taught in the context of both history and contemporary concerns (Economic and Social Foundations of Planning). The Development Assessment subject develops critical practical skills in managing development, and students are taught basic Research Methods relevant to Urban Design and Planning. In addition to these 7 discipline-specific subjects, students gain Development and Property knowledge through studying the specified relevant subjects from those areas
