Why Bond?

Working in small classes, you will have one-one-one access to world-renowned experts who have pioneered ground breaking achievements in their area of forensic expertise.

Associate Professor Angela van Daal is distinguished for her extensive expertise in the development of DNA testing.  Associate Professor van Daal was responsible for the introduction of DNA typing to the courts of South Australia, Queensland, the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales and Victoria, and was involved in the development of the standards for DNA testing.  She has also conduced audits and inspections for many laboratories including the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Facility.
Associate Professor Walter Wood is a recognised expert in the area of forensic anthropology.  His main areas of research have been Australian Aboriginal osteology, the growth and development of the infant and juvenile skeleton, forensic osteogology, and the investigation of historical burials, fatal crocodile attacks and decomposition research.
Chair of Criminology in Bond’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Professor Paul Wilson OAM has earned a well-respected reputation for this expert testimony in high profile legal cases and regular media commentary as a forensic psychologist and criminologist.

STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITIES

Learn in our new $20 million, state-of-the-art building. Features include clinical skills laboratories designed to simulate real medical environments, and modern teaching and research laboratories with the latest scientific equipment, in line with industry standards. For examples, Forensic students will have access to a DNA Extraction Robot and a DNA Typing Instrument. The purpose-built tutorial rooms cater for small-group learning. Lecture theatres are equipped with video streaming, wireless, webstreaming and an audience response system. The building also features a dedicated
computer laboratory for students.
Forensic students will also use the cutting edge facilities in the new Legal Skills building, where Forensic students will use the court rooms to present evidence in their cases that they are working on.
