This program provides a graduate entry pre-service teacher qualification. The program’s focus is a commitment to excellence in teacher preparation and emphasises both theoretical and skills based learning. It is a practice-focused postgraduate program which is mindful of emergent and innovative approaches to learning. On successful completion of the Postgraduate Diploma of Education graduates will be eligible to apply for Teacher Registration with the Queensland College of Teachers. A student would need to make an application to continue for one additional semester to attain the Master of Educational Practice degree award.

Professional Outcomes

The Postgraduate Diploma of Education is accredited with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT). Graduates may be eligible to apply for teacher registration in other States and countries.

Entry requirements

Applicants must have completed a Bachelor degree from an approved institution. In addition, all participants will need to satisfy the requirements for gaining a 'blue card' from the Queensland Government's Commission for Children and Young People. International students must also be English language proficiency tested at IELTS score 7.0 (No subscore less than 7.0). Candidates must nominate two teaching areas for their teaching specialisation. Please note, students intending to be a primary classroom teacher need not nominate two areas as they will be required to teach across all disciplines. Confirmation of admittance to the program will be based on the ability of the Faculty to source a suitable placement.

It is important for students to understand that to undertake the placement they may be required to travel significant distances from the university.  This may include the Brisbane region which is 80 kilometers from Bond University.  Students will be responsible for arranging their own transportation to attend these schools each day of the practicum.

Important note: No application will be considered unless academic and other conditions of the program are met including submission of evidence of the award of an IELTS score 7.0 (No subscore less than 7.0).  If students do not meet all requirements they will either be made an alternative offer and/or be advised to resubmit their application for consideration when all requirements have been met.

Places in this program are very limited and that possession of the minimum requirements does not guarantee a place.

Attendance

International Students: Students must undertake four subjects per semester (equivalent to 40 credit points) to fulfil student visa requirements.

Domestic Students: Most Students undertake four subjects per semester (equivalent to 40 credit points). You may, however, enrol in fewer subjects (equivalent to 30 credit points) and extend your degree over a longer period.

Bond's Teaching methodology involves a combination of lectures, tutorials, seminars, examinations, projects, presentations, assignments, computer labs and industry projects.
