Andy Utting

Coach, Major League Baseball, Australian Academy Program

2001

After a career playing professional baseball in the United States, commenced Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Bond University majoring in Exercise Science, attracted by the flexible programs and trisemester entry options.

2003–2004

Deferred degree to take up an Australian Sports Commission scholarship, working at the Academy of Sport and studying a Graduate Diploma of Sports Coaching at UQ.

Silver medallist in baseball at the Athens Olympic games.

2005

Returned to Bond to complete degree and graduated having received two Dean’s Awards and developed sporting contacts through Assistant Professor Chris McLellan.

2006

With personal talent and a solid understanding of the science underpinning strength and conditioning in sport, secured dual coaching positions at the Queensland Academy of Sport and Major League Baseball Academy Program, helping to develop skills in the next generation of baseball players.

Launched personal training business, Fitness Solutions.

Training to compete in the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.
