Faculty of Law
Why Study Law at Bond?
Bond University’s Faculty of Law degrees have earned an international reputation for excellence
Surveys conducted by the Graduate Careers Council of Australia show that our graduates have the highest rate of full-time employment with the second highest mean starting salary when compared to Australia’s leading Group of Eight universities, with our law program ranking No. 1 for student satisfaction a record nine times.
Most significantly, our alumni say that a Bond Law degree will virtually guarantee you an interview with any potential employer.
The outstanding success of our graduates and the reputation we have forged in the corporate community can be directly attributed to a unique combination of benefits:
Complete your degree sooner
Studying at Bond University, your entry to the legal profession will be much sooner than that of your competitors from other law schools. Our accelerated three-semesters-per-year schedule means that you can complete a Bachelor of Law in less than three years and a postgraduate Juris Doctor in just two years.
This time efficiency encourages many of our students to undertake a double degree, combining law with commerce, international relations and a wide range of complementary disciplines available from the other Bond faculties.
Easy access to unparalleled facilities
With strictly limited numbers of students, you will have easy access to our world-class facilities, including one of the largest law library collections in Queensland where there is rarely, if ever, a waiting list for publications or equipment.
In May 2007, we opened our state-of-the-art Legal Skills Centre incorporating electronic court rooms, practice court rooms, wireless technology, full video conferencing and the latest teaching technologies.
All students will become au fait with this 21st century facility during their studies, ensuring that graduates will be able to enter any courtroom and be fully conversant with the environment, procedures and technology.
World-class academics teaching small classes
As a boutique law school of international standing, we have attracted Australia’s most respected legal academics and acknowledged industry experts to our teaching team.
Small classes and tutorials limited to just 12 students gives you the opportunity to work one-on-one with these renowned specialists.
Our open door policy provides you with the opportunity to seek one on one assistance outside of class time.
Gain first-hand experience in real legal practice
Feedback from employers constantly emphasises the ability of Bond Law graduates to “hit the ground running”.
This is undoubtedly due to the fact that we actively encourage students to gain experience in real legal practice during their studies by undertaking clerkships and work experience.
Rigorous academic training with an international focus
From an academic perspective, our programs are rigorous and demanding.
In addition to covering some 20 legal skills components, Bond Law was the first law school in Australia to integrate Legal Skills Training as part of our undergraduate and postgraduate curricula.
This unique feature, coupled with our strong international perspective has attracted students from all over the world.
Contacts with blue-chip employers
These opportunities are enhanced by the Faculty’s strong partnerships with leading blue-chip employers who are actively involved with the university through a range of sponsorship and award programs.
For many of these organisations, Bond Law graduates are their first choice when it comes to recruitment and our alumni are now working for top law firms and major corporations in some 38 countries worldwide.
Instant membership to Bond’s global law network
As part of this elite global alumni network, you will enjoy the ‘old school tie’ benefits of being a Bond Law graduate at every stage of your career and wherever you travel in the world.
